New Narrative

New Narrative is a songwriting-led project fronted and created by Nicole Canfield and developed in close partnership with her husband, musician, producer, and songwriter Devin Canfield. Together, they shape the project’s sound and direction. The duo allows space for voice, lyric, and atmosphere while maintaining and exploring sonic identity through introspection and lived experience.

Nicole has been writing since childhood—poems, songs, stories and short narratives. She has been singing for as long as she can remember, a passion and a language that has only grown with her over the years. Playing piano from a young age and later adding cello and guitar, her musical foundation is broad, intuitive, and deeply connected.

Musically, New Narrative draws from a wide palette: the vulnerability of singer-songwriter traditions, the earthy pull of folk textures, subtle nods to the tensions and energy of rock, the edgy angst of alternative and indie music, and the reflective stillness of modern worship.

Based in Delaware, New Narrative is an artist project under Ridge Road Records, operating with a shared commitment to intentional songwriting, thoughtful production, and music that leaves space for listening, reflection, and a new way of seeing.
